An Exhibition of New Paintings by Naomi Cairns
Naomi Cairns was born on Vancouver Island in 1984 and became interested in art at an early age. She attended Malaspina University/College in Nanaimo and L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Lyon in France before obtaining her BFA from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 2007. A recipient of many prestigious awards, Naomi counts among them the honour of being the youngest recipient of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award, which she received in 2002 and has the honour of having one of her paintings included in the permanent collection of the National War Museum in Ottawa.
Naomi Cairns now lives on Cortes Island and the time she spends in nature, whether hiking or on and around the water, informs her endless source of inspiration. Working predominately on large-scale canvases, she delights in exploring the interactions of light and composition at the sea's edge. An accomplished young artist, Naomi’s work has captured the attention of collectors from both the private and public sectors around North America.
